Ostomy Support Group

Christmas lunch was a big success. Thanks to Sandy for doing the arrangements and giving out the white elephant gifts. She is a big reason why we are the best support group in Arkansas.

Our support group meets on the second Saturday of the month throughout the year, except for JULY. Although we only meet once a month, we are constantly working and assisting ostomates and their families.

What is the Hot Springs Ostomy Support Group?

The United Ostomy Association of America (UOAA) serves people with ostomies and other intestinal & urinary diversions. We exist for the sole purpose of helping YOU or someone you love return to a normal, healthy, active and productive life with an ostomy, or continent diversion. Our mission is to bring about a positive quality of life for every person who is touched by ostomy.

The terms ostomy and stoma are general descriptive terms that are often used interchangeably though they have different meanings. An ostomy refers to the surgically created opening in the body for the discharge of body wastes. A stoma is the actual end of the urethra or small or large bowel that can be seen protruding through the abdominal wall.

The UOAA is dedicated to providing information, advocacy and service to, and for, its affiliated support groups, their members and the intestinal or urinary diversion community at large.
